Antonio at Right Back.
So it seems Bilic has set his sights on another winger due to the fact he sees Antonio as a RB. I really hope I am wrong though. Antonio does an OK job in that position; however you lose his unpredictability, aerial threat, and his crossing ability as a RB. It's just not wise having so many attacking players on the field. The balance has to be right.

Re: Antonio at Right Back.
It's up to Sam Byram to prove he can make that position his own. Then Antonio can play further up the pitch,on EITHER flank, because he played left midfield at Sheff Wed equally well as right midfield. If we make progress in the Europa League, both players will be busy I should think.

I thought it would be more of a shock that a Leeds fan was at the theatre? :-(

Re: Antonio at Right Back.
Seems a lose lose situation.
We lose out having Antonio further up the pitch, the best in that position and such a goal threat, so that position is weaker.
We lose out having someone who is NOT a RB, so that position is weaker as well.

Absolute waste if he's played at RB!

Re: Antonio at Right Back.
He does a fair job there but he is not a natural and makes mistakes in that position that we could do without, he needs to play on the wing or even upfront

Is it possible that Bilic sees no future for Antonio? I hope not.

Theatre = Raymond Revue Bar

Antonio has the mixture of the attacking threat & the work ethic to help his full back.
Personally I think putting him at right back is like putting Noble in goal.
I'd like to see Byram at rb & happy to see an experienced back up. I thought that's what this Hutchison was though I would have preferred us to move for Zabaletta at the same price.

Re: Antonio at Right Back.
If this season is like most others - we will have a crippling injury list and we'll have to mix and match like every other season.

I do agree though - Antonio should be higher up the pitch. I'd personally like to see him playing right up top in Europa league to see how he gets on.

We could already have a 15-20 goal a season player on our hands - good wingers are far easier to find than good strikers.

Can't see this at all. He's questionable at right back but so effective at right wing.

Re: Antonio at Right Back.
One of the few things Slaven got wrong last year was his misuse of Antonio when he played him at right back. As a tackler, there was no problem, 1-on-1 he was very difficult to beat being so dogged and determined. He's obviously got good pace too which helped. The two big negatives for me were firstly his positioning, which understandably was often woeful as he isn't used to the position, but the big drawback is that he was so effective at creating havoc in and around the opposition box and was wasted at right back because of this.

Re: Antonio at Right Back.
If we sign another right back this summer (which I think we will) surely that will confirm he definitely sees Antonio as an attacking player? I hope so anyway. A full season playing right wing would see him score 15-20 goals next season. Guy is an absolute beast.

Don't think signing an extra winger would change that either. We need strengthening in that area especially with the extra games next season.

Re: Antonio at Right Back.
The results dipped when Antonio started covering at RB and this was not necessarily down to him not performing in that position, it was more because he was so effective further up the pitch.

He would be one of my first names on the team sheet along with Payet next season but NOT at RB.

Antonio has the potential to notch 15 goals if he's played in the right position.

Re: Antonio at Right Back.
Whever he ends up, it's brilliant to have a player that can play at the back or the wing, gives us loads of options to change things round midgame.
